COMBINED CABLING ENDORSEMENT COURSE
This skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to install, maintain and modify telecommunications customer cabling in domestic and commercial premises. This course covers the additional training required for an Open Registered cabler to install, maintain, test and certify structured, fibre and coaxial installations in customer premises in accordance with Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) requirements for the current and emerging cabling environment.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for any technical staff who:
- Possess an Open cabling registration and seeking to add endorsements to their registration to allow the compliant installation of specialised cable including Structured, Coaxial, Optical Fibre
- Upgrades or maintains existing communication networks in domestic, commercial, industrial installations on a client’s premises.
- Work as field officers, technicians or technical supervisors working for cablers, contractors or other service providers who carry out domestic, commercial or industrial installations in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Work in the telecommunication application areas for the purpose of commissioning, fault identification or routine maintenance.

Entry requirements
If you’re a cabling tech with an Open Registration, this course is for YOU! The Structured Cables Endorsement will validate your skill set and allow the installation of specialised cables like Optical Fiber or Coaxial.
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years or over
- Hold a valid visa to study in Australia (student visas are not accepted)
- Complete your Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment
- Be sufficiently Digitally Literate to the level they can undertake the training and assessment.
Language, Literacy & Numeracy
You must undertake a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment during your induction session before beginning the qualification. Results will be assessed on an individual level by the assessor.
Depending upon the level of support required for the language, literacy, or numeracy an alternative training and assessment method may be used or you will be recommended to pursue the Foundation Skills program, which will help you fulfil the LLN gap and achieve the qualification.
Course structure
Learners need to complete the following 4 units of competency to attain Statement of Attainment
1. ICTCBL301- Install, terminate and certify structured cabling installation |
2. ICTCBL303- Install and terminate coaxial cable |
3. ICTCBL322- Install, test and terminate optical fibre cable on customer premises |
4. ICTCBL323- Test cables and systems on customer premises |
Course Delivery
6 days of face-to-face training.
Attendance is mandatory to obtain a certificate of completion.
Frontier applies only competency-based Assessment pathway for this course.
The learning approaches used for this course may include:
- Virtual Face to Face in groups using ZOOM online platform for theory
- Classroom based Face to Face
- Hands on Practical onsite in Frontier Campus ensuring COVID protocol are complied.
Course Outcome
Course aims to develop skills and knowledge to install, terminate, test, troubleshoot and certify specialist communications cabling on client premises.
These cabling include:
- Structured cabling for indoor or outdoor installations
- Coaxial cabling for various communication applications
- Optical fibre cabling for communications applications using a range of terminations that may include direct termination, fusion splicing and mechanical splicing.
Communications applications include but not limited to:
- Digital and analog including master antenna television (MATV),
- Closed circuit television (CCTV)
Course Duration
5 day face-to-face classes will include lectures, discussions, practice, and summative assessments.
